3rd Line Support Engineer

Job title: 3 rd Line Support Engineer Location: Hybrid – Luton & Remote Job type: Full time, Contract - OUTSIDE IR35 Skills: Do you have what is takes to support and maintain a companies Server and Storage infrastructure?  Could you maintain service availability, performance and incident resolution within contractual service levels? We are looking to recruit a 3 rd Line Support Engineer to join a local authority client. This will be an initial 6 month contract and consist of hybrid working, remote and in the office based in Luton. You will join a team consisting of around 50 people and have experience working on a mixture of projects including: BAU, infrastructure issues, upgrades and rollouts.   Key Responsibilities: Perform IT operation to install, upgrade, operate, control, maintain and monitor the performance of IT components, ensuring that service levels and procedures are complied with and fit for purpose Ensure that appropriate action is taken to investigate and resolve incidents and problems in server hardware, systems and services Provide Technical support as part of project activity specifically the enhancement of MS Teams and Exchange On Line Advise on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc) and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly Plan the installation and testing of new versions of system software, investigating and co-ordinating the resolution of potential and actual service problems and advising on its correct and effective use Complete technical change activity relating to the server and storage infrastructure. Ensure that changes are carried out effectively and efficiently to ensure minimum disruption to users and that the ITIL based change management process is adhered to.   Essential Competencies: Microsoft Certified (MCP/MCSA/MCSE) Knowledge of supporting enterprise environments: Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 (and previous) based systems including DNS, DHCP, IIS, NPS, RDS, DFS. Active Directory with multiple forests and forests with multiple domains Troubleshoot basic problems in MS SQL Microsoft Teams and Exchange Online experience Working knowledge Private and Public Cloud platforms, specifically Azure Microsoft System Centre (SCOM, SCCM, DPM, SCVMM) Backup Technologies specifically CommVault Write technical changes and implement where required Enterprise grade server and storage hardware * Good problem solving skills and the ability to “think outside the box” under pressure Experience of working within ITSM frameworks and have experience in Incident / Problem / Change Management A 'self-starter' and be able to manage both pro-active and reactive incidents and requests with little direction Excellent interpersonal and communication skills About The Company My client are a leading provider of digital solutions and managed services for public sector and regulated markets.
